Time to start stalking Jon....
There's lots of random things I feel like posting about at the moment, so please take some time to appreciate my mild ADD.
First, the Victorian Guest House Lady turned out to be a little bitty bit crazy. So, we're definitely not living there. She started talking about being a role model for her children and how being an unmarried couple a does not make a good role model and proceeded to ask me personal questions about my marriage plans. First of all, I just want to live there - I don't want to raise, or help raise in any way, shape, or form her children. Second of all just because I have a roomate currently does not mean I'm a drunk college kid - so don't presume such a thing. I had to kindly explain that my existing roomate and I were two working professionals who chose to live together to save some money. Now kiss my ass.
Second of all, while I don't agree with this school's decision to ban this pregnant girl from graduation I understand that since they are a private Roman Catholic high school why they wouldn't allow her to participate in graduation. However, please explain to me why the father was allowed to participate? If the decision was for "safety" reasons, fine - but shouldn't her name have been included in the program as a graduate? And if a doctor had cleared her to safely walk across a stage - what exactly are the safety concerns this school is concerned about? This leads me to believe that due to the religious association of the school they banned her due to her pregnancy alone. Why then, is the father not also held responsible?
In a related issue - I heard Howard Dean talk this morning about Democrats and abortion and he clearly spoke to what I believe. He said he doesn't think anyone thinks abortion is good - he believes the decision about personal healthcare belongs to the patient (women) and their doctors and politicians need to get out of it. He also said that common ground lies between us all: reduce the number of abortions. Under President Bush's abstinence only education, abortions have increased 25% since he took office. Dean said we need to educate the population about safe sex and do what it takes to reduce the number of abortions in America. I heart Howard Dean.
And finally, despite the crazy guest house lady and other bumps in the road to finding living for August, MD and I might just have found a place to live! I think I'm just going to try to be like my good friend Jon. I'm going to move into his apartment complex and I might even be buying a car just like his. So Jon, I hope you think I'm hot because I'm going to start stalking you.
